Job Description

  • Work Status: Full-time | 36 Hours per Week 
  • Shift Details: 7:00pm - 7:00am | Every Third Weekend | Two Holidays per Year 
  • Department: Med Surg, ER, OB

Job Summary

Responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to all patients as directed by medical staff and in compliance with hospital policies. Plans, directs, coordinates, and evaluates the work and efforts of all personnel assigned to their area.  Relates and communicates effectively with other shifts for continuity of care. Maintains satisfactory relationships and positive communication with other departments.  Participates in all phases of education, maintenance of records, and upgrading policy, procedures, and skills.

Supervision and Coordination: Directly supervise nursing activities, ensuring smooth operations and quality patient care within your assigned area. Maintain quality patient care and exhibit compliance with physician orders and hospital policies.

Clinical Expertise and Communication: Your technical skills come into play as you provide direct patient care, including administering medications (oral, intramuscular, intravenous, and/or subcutaneous). You’ll assess patient needs through interactions with patients and families. Additionally, you’ll formulate and document care plans involving the medical team. Effective communication—both with colleagues and patients—is key.

Confidentiality and Compliance: Maintaining patient confidentiality is paramount. You’ll skillfully administer medications, adhere to policies, and keep accurate electronic medical records. Promptness, efficiency, and knowledge of necessary equipment round out your essential functions.

Continuous Learning and Certification: Embrace lifelong learning by participating in orientation, safety programs, and required certifications. You’re not just a nurse; you’re a vital part of patients' healing journey. Possesses knowledge of the equipment needed in certain situations and how the equipment functions. Participates in all required certifications (ie, CPR, ACLS, TNCC, PALS and NRP). Orients new employees.

Qualifications

  • An associate’s degree in nursing (ASN) and/or bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing is required.
  • Must have an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Nebraska or must have an active, current Paramedic license in the State of Nebraska.
  • Must possess an active Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate.
